Profile: Starfire Crunchers United & Many

Personal background
SCUM stands for Starfire Crunchers United & Many. We are a newly formed sub-group within the ranks of BroadBandreports.com's Team Starfire Seti@Home Club, (http://www.broadbandreports.com/forum/seti) who believe that even when one is semi or fully retired from active crunching, that it's not over yet by any means.

While we appreciate the fact that the inherent competitive nature of the project does have it's place as far as being somewhat of a motivating factor for someone to become involved with the science behind what we all do, we feel that we are acheiving and making FAR more of a positive impact with our *crunch hard and push the equipment past the 'bleeding edge' for the SCIENCE* attitude & actions rather than the usual DC 'blah-blah-blah'......

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think that we are doing some good (for Team Starfire AS WELL AS Berkeley), and will ultimately find that other intelligent spacefaring species in the universe do indeed exist as we begin to reach farther and farther into the vast void of interstellar space to look for answers.

There HAVE to be others looking for us as we are for them, but so far, no luck.. Just a matter of "when" and not "if" this event will happen I suppose.
