Profile: John Eversen

Personal background
I am currently back in school full time to become an OMD - Oriental Medical Doctor. Acupuncture, herbs and tuina. I'm 45 (Jan '04), happily married and expecting our 1st child. My wife is wonderful and we love our time together. I've done Martial Arts since 1970 but have had to stop while in school and preparing for daughter. I believe technology should be kept out of our foods but thoroughly enjoy the advances that have been made. I hope to see a base on our Moon or Mars before I pass on. Life is a wonderful adventure.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
The weight of the elements placed them where they are as the sun & planets were forming from the gasses. The weight of those elements does not change across the universe so there should be other habitable planets. I believe that there is life out there somewhere. I would like to see the day of proof.
I do not believe in a mythology and feel that the discovery of life other than that on Earth would make many people re-examine their faiths. Hopefully the world population will be ready for that day when it arrives. It will force many to mature.
I like the idea of helping research. It becomes research for the sake of learning and growing as a collective group. Politics or money become less involved when everyone works togther. We as people can share in this.
Political questions start when discussing what to transmit so I think we should keep away from that for a while. At least until there are fewer wars and people are helping each other more.
