I am 30 years old and work as a call centre manager at an Internet betting company. Anyone want odds on discovering off world sentient life then? I have a keen interest in running and fitness in general.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1: Extraterrestrial life definitely exists; we just don't have the tech to have found it yet. I am quite sure that we have ourselves been discovered though.
2: We should transmit to let others know that we are of a sufficient level of technology to be able to do this. Anyone able to receive and decode the signal will be significantly more advanced than we are anyway.
3: I think that the project is a fantastic idea and a good use of distributed computing time. I now have an old machine in the spare room that sits and does nothing but run command line seti. Silly maybe but I couldn’t think of a more worthwhile use for it.
SETI@home and Astropulse are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, and donations from SETI@home volunteers. AstroPulse is funded in part by the NSF through grant AST-0307956.
