Given that the universe is infinte there has to be ET life somewhere its a question of when not if.
The main reason that i run SETI is because i leave my computer on downloading music and films that takes up alot of internet bandwidth but takes very little processing power this program does the opposite so if my computer is on anyway i may as well do some good with it
