Personal background
I'm from Brazil, and I think this is enough reason to believe in almost everything, even ETs and time travels.

I'm an art director at an advertising agency, study japanese and currently I'm attending law school (as ya can see, there's a lot of very different things that interests me). When I was an boy, I were fascinated with Cosmos TV series (yeah, I got the DVD!). The movie Contact is a must for me as it is Fire In The Sky (the book is also very interesting).

I hope science one day will work for the benefit of all mankind, not only to build richesses for a few ones, but building a brand new kind of man. Finding other intelligent species out there will not only end our loneliness, but will dismay our immense proud. So I believe...

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Well, I read about SETI@Home in the news, so, when I knew it were going on, I hurried to the site. It's not all the time you can help in such a world wide scientific work!

I really believe there's someone out there in this awesome universe that is like us, humans. If we have been trying to send messages to them since the 60's, why can't they be doing the same? Discovering their existence would be very shocking, it's true, but would make we humans re-think the way we look at the Earth and at our future. Things would seem a bit different if we knew for sure we are not alone. I think the military risk exists, but it's not our biggest concern. Epidemics and a nuclear catastrophe are dangers we are facing here and now and are much likely to exterminate manking than the "evil ETs" are.

We can't live fearing other intelligent species. We need to know about them. For our own sake...
