Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think extraterrestrial life (EL) exists because the universe is infinite, and since its infinite, it has infinite chances of having an infinite number of life forms. Eventually humans will discover EL (if havent done already). I only hope that when we do discover EL, we will be ready for them. Nobody knows what EL is, so they/it could be anything - peacefull, agressive, annoying or ignorant. In any case we need to be prepared and right now we arent even close. But we are getting closer and closer to that point. We should send a general information about our species and our location. We should continue listening to the signals from the space and perhaps send some of our own. Chances for EL to intercept it are so low that it could take few hundred thousand years befor someone actually catches them. Thats why I am running SETI@home all the time, even though our chances of intercepting an intelligent signal is very very very low. SETI@home gives us this little chance of getting ready in case we do find EL. SETI@home is great! keep up the good work!
