Profile: Howard Winner

Personal background
I reside in beautiful central Pennsylvania near Penn State University. My 66th birthday is rapidly approaching. I retired in 1998 from an engineering position with a local manufacturer. Since my retirement, I have been involved in operating a small business with my wife and step-son. I've learned more about accounting than I ever wanted to know.
Hobbies include babysitting some 70 odd employees of our growing business and an occasional round of golf. Past favorites included canoeing, spelunking, fishing and hunting but alas time is catching up with me.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I've always been interested in anything scientific and astronomy captured my attention several years ago when I purchased a small telescope. I believe that with the billions of stars that exist we cannot possibly be the only intelligent species in the universe. If I can in some small way contribute to proving that we are not alone, well you know.
