Personal background
Right now, I'm concentrating on my technical degree here in Arizona.
My part time interests include computer gaming, database design, reading, more gaming, surfing the internet, gourmet foods, movies (action, sci-fi/fantasy, animation), and oh yes...more gaming.
When I'm not entertaining myself, I'm being pulled in fifteen different directions, fixing someone's computer. Dang! "Oh yeah, that's easy to replace/upgrade," me and my big mouth. Makes it difficult to get homework done!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
It's pretty darn arrogant to think we are the only life in this vast cosmos. There just has to be another life-form out there.
Why do I choose to participate in this project? Well, I am curious and fascinated by the whole prospect of other life. Besides, this is one of the best run distributed projects on the 'net. There's a huge amount of pride that these people at SETI have. It shows in everything they do...from programming, to web design, to sitting out in a mosquito infested jungle recording otherworld radio signals so an Earth full of armchair astronomers (including myself) can join in on the fun.
Plus; of course, there is the added incentive of finding the "Signal" and getting some credit.
