Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think they are already here. I'm an X-files FREAK and I think the show was on to a lot of stuff. The show always tried to incorporate reality and truths into the fiction and then let the viewer decide if it was real or not.

A good quote for you to remember.
----------------
Man: Mr Mulder, why is that people like yourself who believe in the existence of extra terrestrial life on this planet, are not dissuaded by all the evidence to the contrary?

Mulder: Because...all the evidence to the contrary...is not entirely dissuasive.

Man: Precisely

I think Seti is a great project and great way for other people like us to get involved. I however think if something was found the NSA or whoever is in charge of that stuff would cover it up and the PC owner that found the data would end up dead from an unlikely heart attack or car accident. But hey, with so many people running the data, what are the chances it will be me? :)

As for a beacon for others out there to find....we did that already, It was called Voyager.
