| I am from northern California, in the USA. I am 25 and found the web site by accident actually from another link. I was totally consumed by the efforts and the advancement of the technology used. It is amazing how us world wide, "the space freaks" can come together 4 million strong to produce such amazing results. Together we can change the perception of the world and even present facts that otherwise would some how be deemed unimportant to society. "Government" views. :) I honestly do believe we are not alone and that there is a race among the world. Just what is the nature, value, or hidden risks that are associated by coexisting hidden in our society? Only few know the truth and unfortunately to prevent society mass panic, change of life and religion, our generation may never know. Put the best a quote I have heard comes from the film Contact shortened and paraphrased If one 1% of all the stars had solar systems like ours and only 1% of those had planets like ours, and if only 1% of those had life forms on them, and finally last 1% of those had intelligent life forms, then that would mean there is millions & millions of civilizations like ours or more advanced. Other wise it would be a lot of wasted space. In comparison our planet, and solar system in relatively young in existence compared to the rest of the heavens. So I think we could bet on those odds better then the thing they call the lottery in winning. I have always since I was little looked to the stars and wanted to know. I just wish we could have proof. In my lifetime I want to get of this rock somehow!! To be able to see the heavens with my own eyes in its entire splendor. I hope results will be publicly available from SETI research and findings are not submersed in today’s political red tape. And I am still in awe of the network Seti@home developed and think it will be recognized in history lessons of technology advancements. | Opps I get to write more Hooray! Yes extraterrestrial life exists how will we discover it? I strongly believe we already have or at least a select few of our worlds militaries & leaders. The human race in general will discover it when they are ready to announce it, or the alien race is tired of the mass disaffirmation of the existence. As in dangers and benefits those are complex on a world basis. Aggressions from another life form, highly doubt it. In comparison we are such a young species and don’t have much to offer. Their fear might be we would be a menace to their existence and world. If I was of a alien race I would fear humankind at its present development. We as a whole are the not the most peaceful. We exploit or planet to such extremes of non repairable damage, Harnessed the atom not for peace but as a mass destruction of our species and land, we expanded the population worldwide by monstrous ways. Our governments in general look and view the general human as expendable in a act of war. We excel in our lives for self acceptance, wealth; power not the betterment of all mankind. That would be the scariest point! In essence I would view planet earth a self-destructive planet that may expand its views to other galaxies for their own conquests. Benefits of another race would be to learn their history of existence and see the relativity of our current ways. We would greatly excel our civilization in medical, science, and understanding the big question we ask, "Why are we here?†and "What is our purpose?" These are normally referred to as supernatural questions intended for GOD. So there it is the magic statement, it would undermine all religion beliefs for the last 3,000 years and destroy all pillars of our religion. This is why we don’t get to know if there is any among use. It would create world panic, disbelief, and the feeling we were lied to and sub missed to something that was just created to unite the people of the world for submission, and civil behavior by the fear of our maker being unhappy and puni |
