Personal background
born in Hampshire England, emigrated to canada with parents.lived in a small village in saskatchewan for 15 years. the school had a small astronomy club which gave me an intrest in the stars.a fanatical star trek fan also.after finding the prospects of not working ,due to high unemployment intollerable I returned to the uk where I have lived for 11 years now.
I have a small telescope in my garden a TAL-1 not bad for observations and living out of the cities the light haze is minimal
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1: yes ,probably we will be visited when we are advanced enough to appreciate the contact,the effects will be profound
2:we would have to advance a bit to be sucessful in contact in a reasonable time frame tens or hundreds of years, spaceflight advances will hopefully take us beyond the reach of current transmition capabilities .
3: Good question since the release of your information reguarding the possible use of laser pulse transmitions by any possible advanced civilisation
