Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I am convinced that Extraterrestrial life exists, but I am very sceptical about little green men abducting people, probing them and replacing them back on earth with little more proof of the whole experience than a Hangover induced headache. If they went to all the trouble of taking people in the first place why not just keep them?
I think we are more likely to find alien life by looking at the stars, than by them popping up one day in a big spaceship that no one saw coming.
I don't have a clue about the possible dangers, we can't even get on with our fellow man, so why an alien species would think it was safe to come and visit us I don't know. I doubt that they would be able to survive on our planet, why we assume aliens should resemble humans I don't know, Dolphins don't look anything like humans and they are supposed to very intelligent (They must be very intelligent, they don't go round killing each other).
I think we should be sending a beacon; we can't hide under a rock and expect them to come and find us.
I think getting all the spare processing power of peoples' home machines is a brilliant idea, whoever thought of it should get an award.
