Personal background
I am a VT alum currently working in Arlington, VA for BBN Technologies (http://www.bbn.com). I enjoy biking, swimming, soccer, and volleyball. I am currently recovering from ACL replacement surgery. GO HOKIES!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. You have to figure that mathematically there is a good chance some form of life exists out there. If we discover it (and it has anything like our technology), I would guess it would be found by SETI.

2. We do transmit beacons.... TV and radio waves. Isn't that comforting?

3. I like the general concept of distributed computing. I wish there were a way to have it run in the background an only use up 50% of the resources. That way it could always be on and I coul dget some work done.
