Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
The topic of extraterrestrial life is very large and constitute an endless debate between people. There is no doubt in my mind that we are not alone in this universe. To quote the phrase from the movie CONTACT, I would say that if we are alone, "it will be a waste of space", and that's truely what I believe.

How humans will discover other lives is yet to be determined as I still consider we have a lot of work to do to be able to do that. A great step was taken back in the 70s when the 2 Voyagers and the 2 Pioneers were launched. But the universe is huge, and these 4 shuttlecrafts are lost in this immense void, so we surely have to do more than that if we want to bring attention to us. The question is, "do we really want to bring attention to us?". Are other lives friendly? We can't expect them to be if humans on this earth are not friendly to each other and continue to fight each other. I would say extraterrestrial lives are not so different than ours, you have the bad guys and the good guys. What we can hope however is that by being faced with a possible alien encounter, humans will finally stand united together to protect this tiny world called Earth.

I am running SETI@home because I would like to contribute to the advancement of science and because I believe somebody is out there. I think that all of you guys running this program believe in this project. We just hope that the motivations of this project are as honest as ours.
