Profile: Roger DeSouZa

Personal background
I am a 16year old college student. My endeavour is to be an astrophysicist that shapes modern day perception of the universe and physics in a revelotionary manner on par with einstein. I program in the computer programming language C .I write poetry and two poems of which were selected by the international world poetry association and are to published worldwide this year. You can see these poems at my website: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/roger_desouza. I find i am one of few people who believe in religion and science fully and believe they do not contradict but merge. i beleive that the main reason for difference is that religious ideas such as in the bible for example use metaphors but i believe that they translate to a literal principle that is in favour of science. My common example to explain my theory is that according to the holy bible the universe was created in "seven" days. This is rediculous in scientific scope but....What if a day was not 24hours according to the bible written aeons ago?
And consider....What if the creator who we know as god was really an alien species advanced enough to seed life on earth. Just how we created machines to aid man, perhaps we are a more efficient biological self thinking tool for aliens to use. how do we know we have "intelligence"? perhaps the artificial intelligence we create is what the "aliens" did to us and our intelligence is artificial hence they are far more intelligent. perhaps the bible was a manual documentation shipped with the human product to ensure correct "functionality"?

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I have many well founded reasons for believing in the existence for ET and i believe that they are looking for us.
I dont belive we NEED to search for ET but our minds genius of inquisitivity has lead us to massive levels of understanding. I belive we are taking a risk but think of it, we would be better prepared against an invasion if we looked and found them rather than one day them turning up in our atmosphere.
There are many sides to this coin and it seems in the storm of moral contradictions we tend to abondon them and do what we want, we are the curious cat and theres nothing anyone can do about it so let us make our search well worth the ride instead of wasting energy fighting the inevitable.
We should send sensory data such as sound of animals and talking, send velvet and silk, perhaps even mint, and calvin Klein perfume. We should send writings in many languages as well as audio accesible by pushing a simple button that they might hopefully push by mistake.Diagrams of our species would also be good.
There is always a risk that this information will be used against us incase of invasion, we dont know how smart they are and what they could deduce from the data we send.
I run SETI@HOME because i am only 16 and i want to make a contribution to the "great search" early before i do so more actively when i am older.
The project is an excellent idea which is gain for both the organisation and the users. An obviously well planned, benevolent investment. Thank You
