Profile: Scott Bartley

Personal background
I've been working with computers since the age of 12 (started with a pong game). Once I had enough money I bought an Apple GS without a monitor. I wrote basic programs for it with audio responses. People thought I was nuts to program without a monitor.

I've since converted to Intel based machines and am now running 4 desktops, 1 server, and a laptop. Boy have things changed.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I find it interesting that some people don't believe in extra-terrestrial life. With over 50 billion galaxies out there the odd are very strong that life in some form or fashion exists ... we just need to find it ... or it needs to find us. I feel the @home project is a huge success and I'm glad to be a part of it. Kudos to the developers of the distributive processing that makes SETI work. I can only image the hours spent testing the code that breaks the information up and pulls it back together.
