Personal background
I am a 49 year old Arizonan and recently retired from a major airline that was based in Tempe AZ.

I like astronomy and would say that my hobbies would include but not limited to science, computers, mechanics and gaming.

Systems that I use for running Seti are as follows:
HP ProLiant DL385 G6 with 2 AMD processors at 12 cores total + 32 gig ram.
No desktop crunching at this time.

Past systems were:
ASUS A8V-Deluxe AMD64 3200+ 1Gig Dual Channel W/W2K
ASUS A8V-Deluxe AMD64x2 4600+ 1Gig Dual Channel W/W2K
ASUS A8V-Deluxe AMD64x2 3800+ 2Gig Dual Channel W/W2K Server

I guess that answers the essentials.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. Yes I think that extraterrestrial life does exist, but as to when human kind will discover it. Probably when they find us, or when they decided to let us know that they are here. Hmmm!
2. Transmitting information is fine. What is being sent already should be efficient, or they might find the late night broadcasting entertaining on the way here.
3. I like the idea and the concept of Seti. I figure that since my computers are on most of the time; server anyway, I can at least contribute something to the cause.
