Personal background
I've been a techi for more years than I can remember. It all started out with my mom telling me NOT to take the outlet covers off the 120VAC in every room of the house...at age 8. I learned pretty quickly how NOT to place a butter knife inside said wall outlet. It then went to steros, cb radios, medical laboratoy hardware, PC's, Amateur Radio (my sign is KB3DPU) and now for the next little adventure...SETI. I've heard of it, but only installed it today (1/21/03). Pertty cool!! To be involved in this you either "Get It" or you don't!

As time alows, I hope to read more on this project and possibly give more to the science.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1 - It would be hard to imagine that WE are the only form of life in exinstance. But then, how would we know what to look for if it were so diferent than we can imagine it might be?
1B-Dangers? I don't see any. You only realize a danger by knowing that it exists. At this point we don't know if danger does exist. We do this research "because it's there".
2 - Why would we not! We have so many of our own problems, why would we not want to find out if someone/thing has already been there.
3 - Beyond our tiny speck of dust (Earth), there is too much to imagine a few scientists being able to study it all themselves (why let them have all the fun? :-)
