I am one of the first ham radio operators to become active in EME (Earth Moon Earth - bouncing radio signals off the surface of the moon). I have been doing this since the early 60's.
Presently I am doing private SETI and other research using a 10.3 meter dish in my backyard. I am also experimenting with optical SETI and communications.
