Profile: Hectic Sorcerer

Personal background
I was born and still living in Australia. I'm 16 and I've just came back after spending 6 years abroad (namely in Malaysia and Singapore).

I'm mostly into computers as I've a couple of systems running at home. I have a 1.2Ghz Athlon TB, a 1.2Ghz Pentium III-M laptop, a 1Ghz celeron and an old P-133 system. Mostly into hardware, but looking into programming espcially VB and PHP.

I love Star Trek, think it's one of the best sci-fi series ever made. It's good in delveoping the galaxy filled with extra-terrestrial beings and according to them, we haven't made 'first contact' with aliens is because we haven't developed warp drive (the technique to travel faster than light) yet!!!
Kinda makes sense as the closest star is 4 light years away!

I'm also into anime. My favourite series are Vandread, Kenshin and Evangelion. If anyone doesn't like anime, I urge you to watches these series and who knows, you might like it too :-)
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do believe extra terrestrial life exists, no matter how the odds are. Just sit down and think how big the universe relly is? Then think about how many galaxies there are. Then think in each of those galaxies, there are millions of stars. Then think about each star have a couple of planets orbiting around it. This translates to billions of worlds. There should me many that have an environment like that of earth and thus, the chances of having life there is quite high.

Even though the chances of having intelligent life is slim, it is STILL POSSIBLE!

Since the vastness of space is so great, all us humans can do is just sit and listen. Only a portion of the sky is mapped at Arecibo, thus calls for the need for more time on radio telescopes all over the world. With processing power getting greater and greater, the chances of finsing ET is growing each day.

Discovering ET will definitely be the biggest achievement of mankind. But since they are so far away, it is unlikely we'll meet them physically. Even then, we will continue to map the sky, searching for other beings.
