I am currently a Fire Inspector in Central Florida.
My biggest accomplishment is being a beloved Grandfather.
Nov. 15, 2009 was my life altering event when I first met my little Noah.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
As for extraterrestrial life I do believe it exists. Silly question, doesn't every one who runs Seti believe? I think we will discover it purely by accident like many of our great discoveries have been made. I think one of the greatest benefits would be an increase of our knowledge. I think a hazard could be making contact with an unfriendly species.
I think we should transmit a beacon for the simple reasoning that there may be other life out there looking for us.
I run Seti first because I feel it is a worthwhile project and secondly we have 4 computers in the house and I hate to see such expensive eguipment used for nothing more than fancy screensavers 90% of the time because I can't teach my wife and kids where the off switch is on them. Now at least they are doing something productive while they are using electricity and looking pretty.
SETI@home and Astropulse are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, and donations from SETI@home volunteers. AstroPulse is funded in part by the NSF through grant AST-0307956.
