Personal background
Hello, my name is Christiaan, but most people call me Chris.
I was born in a dutch town called Borne. Nice name for a place of birth!
Nowadays my place of residence is Halle.

Can't be very specific about my hobbies, because there are loads of thing I like to do. Visitring festivals like Dynamo Open Air and Lowlands is one of them, going to the movies is another one.
Furthermore, I do like to have some influence on society, so I'm a board member of a labour union for youngsters (JoCNV), and I'm also a board memeber of the FJN. The Forum Jongerenraden Nederland, an organisation which supports local youth counsils nationwide.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I can't choose, so I'll deal with alle three topics.

1. Extraterrestial life does exist, but we don't know in what form.
Well, at least there will be some micro organisms somewhere in the universe, that's for sure.
I haven't thought about how or when we're going to find intelligent life out there, or the benefits and dangers of the discovery.
I don't suppose extraterrestials can be any more violent than humans. We do fight to much.

2. No, I don't think we should send specific information towards extraterrestial lifeforms. We are already sending out TV and radio signals for about a century now, and an extraterrestial lifeform will cath up everything there is to know about us through our music, culture, news-braodcasts... even things like sitcoms and erotic movies will help them understand our everyday life.

3. I'm running Seti@home because I think it's important to help people that are trying to fulfill their dream if I'm able to help.
Seti@home is a fine example of how a large group of people can manage to do the ompossible.

Ow... I'm also very curious about the secrets of the universe. I'd really like to know more about it. Balck skies fascinate me.
On december 4 2002 I will be viewing my third total solar eclipse in Botswana, and I really look forward te seeing a black sky during daytime. It's almost like magic. I love it!
