Personal background
I am from Utah, but I only have one wife. I am older than I once was but younger than I'll be. I love cruising in deep powder, a day at the crags or a weekend wander. I am a professional geek. Feel free to share your thoughts with me at spydieman@hotmail.com.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I believe that extraterrestrial life of some sort must exist. I think it would be very egocentric of us to assume that it would take a recognizable form, however. We must realize that life can take many different forms and has probably adapted to local conditions, which could be vastly different from our own world. I think that humans as a whole are not yet ready to embrace another race of beings until we can show tolerance and understanding for the beings we already know. I believe that SETI@home is a worthwhile project because it is a group of people with a common goal that expect no compensation in return. It is satisfying to know that my computers idle time can be used to help achieve this goal.
