Why do you run SETI@home?
I run SETI@home because you can't do enough to find ET. SETI@home is a good project because it makes sure a lot of computing power is used for finding ET. And if we want to go live in space it would be wise to find out what is out there.
Thoughts about ETI
With so many planets out there im sure that ET exist. We will probably discover ET because of the plans to expand the space we can visit, and those aliens will probably search for other life as well.
Benefits from the aliens could be better technology, that is if they are friendly, if not thats one of the dangers.
Transmitting our own signal would be a good idea because that way we have a better chance to be discovered
