Personal background
I am 48 years old, originally from a small town in Southeast Missouri (USA), I now live in the Pacific Northwest. I am a retired U.S. Air Force member. I am a self-taught computer tech of 21 years, a school bus driver and anline entrepreneurr. I have two online stores: Willys Gifts and Home Decor http://www.willyswhatnots.com and Retro Bargains Vintage Ads http://www.tias.com/stores/rbads. I feel our future lies in our past. Or is that "the past LIES are our future"...hmmm. Please visit my sites and buy a few things - I seriously want to save up enough to join the Planetary Society. Thanks SETI - you're SUPER and doing a STELLAR job!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I first became interested in extraterrestrial life after sighting my first "UFO" at the age of 15 in 1974. My hometown of Steele, Missouri is located near Blytheville Air Force Base, Arkansas (Later renamed to Eaker AFB). The air base was home to the B-52 bomber and several other aircraft that everyone in the flight path was familiar with both day and night. What I viewed that night is still clear in my mind: low on the horizon, not more than a mile away and an altitude of 500 feet at most, my best friend and I observed a single amber orb that was huge and slowly moved across the horizon from east to west for about 120 compass degrees. It maintained the same altitude during the entire pass before it "shot" straight up, instantly out of sight. This was no military or civilian aircraft. My friend and I kept this observation to ourselves - who would believe 15 year olds? 2 years later I joined the U.S. Air Force. After a successful 20-year career I retired. Prior to Blytheville (Eaker) Air Force Base closing down, I was assigned there and learned at the time of my "UFO" sighting, there were active Atlas Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBMs) in the ground all around the base and where I lived. Could the UFO have been graphing those atomic locations? Could be. We may never know, but count me as one that has seen proof there is "life out there". You can't tell me any different! No, my career in the Air Force never put me anywhere near Area 51, Groom Lake or any of those "sweet spots". I wish they would have - for I have a gut feeling the proof is there. I find it odd that our government releases a 50 year old, 50,000 page report on the "Roswell Incident" that is heavily censored with a black highlighter! They continue to cover up what REALLY happened. Even the regular "Top Secret" information is de-classified for public release after only SEVEN years. Well, Uncle Sam... I love ya, but we ain't stupid!
