Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I have no clue (as most of us i suppose) if it exists another intelligent life form apart from us. Since universe is "so big" it's kinda logical to think there must be someone else, but it surely not impossible that there is no one else. Could also be that some is there, in such a form that we won't be able to see, hear or even notice at all.
However, right because we have no clue, it's worth keeping on trying to see if someone else is out there, able to see us and wishing to communicate.
Finding an alien life form might be great for us or might be deadly dangerous. But at least i'm sure there will be one benefit: human race will finally stick together as there will be a way bigger difference between us and aliens than between blak and white, jews and catholics, eastern and western. In the worst case we'll have humans vs aliens, in the best case humans and aliens. In both cases, humans will be ONE race.
I think, honestly, we do not have a technology good enough to trasmit a clear signal of our presence far enough and in all directions.
Seti@home is worth having just to give a hand to SETI... you never know. As i said, we might be alone, but maybe not. Worth having a look into it for sure.
