Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I'm not sure if extraterrestrial life exists but there are some reasons to assume that there is. Besides I think it is a little selfish to think we are the only ones in this entire universe. I’m not sure that we will meet people from other planets for the next couple of hundreds of years. I guess that our technology is not sufficient enough to travel those distances. Of course there is the chance that others may find us. Is it wise to encounter new life from other planets at this moment in time? I don’t think it is wise to do so since we have problems enough to solve on our own planet. First we must reach a universal peace, no more war and global starvation, equality and unity among mankind. These are mandatory before we are able to meet strange and new civilizations.

I do believe is it wise that if there is intelligent life outside our world that they should know we are here. We should let them know we are a multi cultural society.
One of the reasons I run the program is that I like to help discovering new life if it exists. I know the chance of finding it will be very very small but even the smallest chance is worth a try.
