Personal background |
I'm 25, from Newark-on-Trent in Nottinghamshire, England, and work as a software engineer working mainly on embedded systems for transport. I graduated in 2001 with a masters degree in software engineering from the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, and my certificate hangs on the wall infront of my computer to remind me that I never have to sit an exam ever again.
In my spare time I enjoy writing computer games (something I've done since I was at school), church bell ringing, hospital radio broadcasting, and I'm also an organist. |
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
I started running SETI@home after I started leaving my computers running 24/7 at university, and some of my friends suggested that someone else could make use of the wasted CPU time while I wasn't actually doing anything. I looked at a few distributed processing project, and found SETI@home to be the most interesting and worthy of my spare CPU time.
I never realised exactly how much spare CPU time I had until running SETI@home, and I wish more people would wake up to the shocking about of processing power that could be donated without them ever noticing. |
