Let's see...
Who am I? I'm currently a 33 year old Product Development Engineer/IT Development Manager/Program Manager for an automotive supplier. Web Development is a hobby/side job www.filias.com and www.dinofilias.com. My last biggest accomplishment was implementing a multi-million dollar, 600-user, multi-division, multi-company document management (e-engineering) online application developed by a company called "NexPrise". What a mouthful. Our company now boasts and uses e-engineering for every production program going forward.
Onto bigger and better things: Currently I'm the Program Manager for our Mopar Accessories account, which is right up my alley, since I'm also a Jeep Junkie. Right now (10/20/02), we're in the midst of rolling out ten different show vehicles for the SEMA Auto Show in Las Vegas this November.
Who knows, one day I may quit my day job and do web development full time, but right now I'm having too much fun. |
| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
Ever since I was a kid, space has astonished me. I love anything sci-fi, and will pretty much consider any possibility for our existence on this tiny, insignificant planet. Matrix, by far, was one of the best movies ever made. Keep you thinking. Are we here for our benefit, or something elses? Makes you wonder.
I do believe that life exists elsewhere. The probability of life occurring in the universe, is obviously a non-zero number, because we exist. To think that humans are the only intelligent species in this universe is ignorant. Also, to think that humans "were created in 'his' image" is pompous. Going through life as an ignorant jacka**, is no way to live.
Unfortunately, unless we invent a way to travel faster than the speed of light (either through wormholes, or with warp drives, to name a few), we will never encounter or even witness proof of alien intelligence. We scour the skies for proof of intelligence, but we're listening and looking at things that happened millions of years ago. Imagine an alien species looking at earth with a super huge telescope... if they're 100 million light years away, they're seeing the earth 100 million years ago... not much really going on here back then.
Nonetheless, I guess we're banking on the chance that an intelligent species might be more advanced than us. I highly doubt there's chance of that, but who knows...
Be sure to check out www.dinofilias.com, since there's hundreds of debates on religion, science, philosophy, etc. |
