Personal background
I was 37 when I registered with setiathome, now 41. All the machines I have running Seti are my own as I'm not in the IT industry and don't have access to large corporate arrays of number crunchers. Currently I'm running a P4 2 gig under WinXP, an Athlon 1 gig under WinXP, a P4 2.2 gig under WinXP, a PIII 500 under Win2K, a PII 400 under Linux RedHat8, and a Celeron 466 under Win98. I'll probably put Seti on the old P200 MMX I'm using as a router soon. It might take 4 days to crunch a unit, but hey, it might the unit that counts. :) I'm a commercial builder and specialise in the construction of fast food outlets, particularly KFC stores, of which I've built about 50 over the years.

I live in Canberra with my wife of just over a year, Fiona, and we don't have kids yet but probably will soon. Outside of computers, I'm addicted to the sport of special stage rallying and I compete regularly in NSW in a Subaru WRX Sti 5. I combine the computer and rallying interests by running my motorsport club's website at http://www.bmsc.com.au.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
