Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Given the sheer prevalence of life on this planet, it is all but gauranteed life exists elsewhere. Low-level life atleast. Higher level life? Most likely. Higher intelligence life? Wouldn't doubt it in the least. That's advanced enough to send broadcast that we will detect? Maybe. Just maybe.

When you strip away all the human self-centered bullshit and needless ignorance, what you've got left is the absolute inability to say we are unique in the universe or the galaxy and are alone. It is impossible to say we are alone without resorting to arrogance and fantasy. We can say we are not alone though, by observing and thinking and determining just how life can form. We can gain better and better understanding of the processes, until we know for a fact where and how life will form and the range of places and possibilities where life might form. And of course eventually, we will visit these places and touch these facts with our hands and not just our minds. And probably eat them.
