Personal background
In this day and age, technology drives the world. Computers do so much for the average person, why not search for extraterrestrials? There is so much space out in this galaxy. There has to be something out there listening to us. If we are the only intelligent creatures in the universe, it would be an awful waste of space.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. Yes, extraterrestrials do exist. Humans will discover other lifeforms when we start exploring the galaxy. Benefits of such a discovery will be great for humanity's self-esteem in that we are not alone. The dangers will be great in that we might destory the very life we are trying to discover.

2. We have already transmitted a beacon for other to find from Earth. We continue to do so every day. The information we send are the signals from our radios, TVs and satellites. We already have sent plenty.

3. I run SETI@home for the informaional value we could learn. With each technology advance, we may finally find what we are looking for. My views are that the project should be embraced by everyone of the entire world. The benefits to the world are limitless.
