Personal background
I'm James and live in Brisbane, Australia. I have been a seti@home member/cruncher since mid 1999....on and off as you can see by my results lol. The whole concept of life in space has always interested me and I do believe its only a matter of time untill we make contact with someone/something, wouldn't it suck if they were evil lol!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I run seti@home for a few reasons. first is to take part in such a unique program. Its good to see lots of people from all walks of life taking part :). second would be to put my computer to good use while im not using it.

I still like the seti@home classic client. I still have to get use to BOINC. The stats are good to look at....its amazing at how many resources some people put towards this project and how many years in computing time they make up. I remember i started out on a 350mhz 64mb ram computer and the work units took forever. At the moment im have two computers running seti, a 1.5ghz 512mb ram and a 3ghz 1gb ram computer. i think my average wu would be 4 hours? some are longer. I don't know if it would be possible to re-work the program to make it a lil faster so that people with older computers could do WU's in a realistic time.
