Personal background
As I started run SETI@home (28 sep 1999) on my Pentium II 266 MHz, I wanted to know how much time it would take on my computer to complete a workunit. I saw the SETI@home screensaver on some computers on a LAN-Party. First I thought, aah what an awful screensaver, but when a friend of my also runs that same screensaver, I asked him and so I know about the SETI@home project.

So I installed the client on my computer. But it took so long before the first workunit was complete, I desided to quit immediately.

After one year or so, I started again. More and more friends start running the client on their computers and they were in a team named Meldersnet. From that moment I never stopped running the client. My mission was to take the first place in Team Meldersnet.

At 3 nov 2001 Team Meldersnet celibrated their 15 year CPU time. I really wanted to be on the first place at that moment and with a little help from a school mate we did it :) The seti-party was real cool. We drink lots of bier, eat meat from the barbeque and smoked a little pod haha.

From that moment me and my school mate (McMillan) completed more and more workunits. He started to run the client at home and at school we completed many workunits. Then McMillan began to run the client at his work too, and from that moment we couldn't be stopped anymore...

...we made our own programs to improve the amount of workunits...

...we left Team Meldersnet for a new mission in Team Meibok...

...right now we are on the first place in Team Meibok too and our mission is too become a Top 100 user of the world ... or even a Top 10 user of the world haha...
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think there might be extraterrestrial life out there, but I don't believe they are as intelligent as we ... maybe some kind of organism but no aliens.

We love statistics and competitions so we run SETI just to get our name in the rankings and help the people at berkeley with their project.
