Personal background
Whenever someone asks a question about things that are within their power to answer or to find out, the answer is "Seek and you shall find".
Is there life out there?... Seek and you shall find.
I am now well into my fifth decade and I have a young daughter (5yrs) who asks many questions. Together we find answers to her questions and by doing so I also find out things that I had only assumed to be, to be quite different.
Since 'we' as a society place a lot on what someone does, I'm an actor, observer of people, bringer of word to life and, to pay the bills since acting doesn't pay, I have a small company erecting advertising boards for Real Estate companies. I live in a modest brick veneer dwelling with a wonderful wife, see below why, our daughter.
My interests include fish and I have two aquariums in the house. Just sitting watching fish swim around is therapeutic and calming to the soul.
In a previous life time I was a cop for 20yrs and as a result suffer from some idiosyncratic behavior that has to be seen or heard as the case may be to be believed. Most people after such a period of dealing with emotionally charged human situations do become a little derranged. After 8 yrs being in the normal world I'm starting to get back in touch with my emotional inner person. Sounds a bit wanky, but hey, that's probably why things went awry.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Who knows. Seek and you shall find.
One thing though is that the chances of two civilisations rising at the same 'time' and both being within hearing is pretty remote.
Two civilisations rising at different times, millennia apart and having technology to 'hear' is not beyond possibility. Let's hope that both are still around and have not destroyed themselves, or been destroyed by natural catastrophies for long enough to have a dialogue over many years. Can you imagine the conversation.
"Hi it's me?"
Wait two /ten years decades even, if they are next door.
"Who?"
Wait again
"Me, you know."
Wait again
"Oh yeah, dad or was it granddad told me about you. Why don't you come over for a drink?"
Wait again
Thanks for the invite I'll send my yet to be grandson/daughter over".
But back to reality. I believe we are not alone and finding others may not allow for a dialogue but will help unite humanity as one, not what we have today- division, dissent, destruction.
