Profile: Jeff Dodds

Personal background
Jeff leads a quiet life in Canada clicking keys for a living. He's got a house he tries not to break and a car that tries to break him. He's got a wife he loves and a cat that makes his head feel like an overstuffed bag of used dishcloths. He has a great many hobbies and a great deal of talent, but his mental focus is like his vision, blurred.

Jeff's message to the world is, "You are more than what you seem, and so is what you seem."
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Extraterrestrial life certainly exists, whether humans will adjust their perception to be able to interact with it is another matter.

Humanity is a beacon, each day for over 50 years we've been screaming the scream of unchecked growth all over the planet.

I run seti@home in hopes that we do find a signal; a signal of a race of intelligent creatures similar enough to ourselves that we can communicate with them and dissimilar enough that when we do meet we will not destroy each other. Humanity ignores its many mirrors here on Earth, perhaps if we find a mirror outside our world we will begin again to look upon it.

If we can make friends with extraterrestrial life perhaps we will begin to treat terrestrial life better.
