Hi!
I live in Croatia, small country on east of the Europe. I'm 22 years old, and I'm studying informatics design. I always had interests in science, especially in universe. As I was little, I always looked in the sky at night, and wonder is there someone else but us, are we alone? As I grew up, that question became bigger, and now, I would really like to know!! :))
So, I hope my small distribution to SETI/BOINC will help to find the answer.

| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |

1.) Of course that I think that extraterrestrial life exists. How will we discover it? I don't know how. Maybe there is a greater chance that they will find us first. But maybe we are to small & too stupid civilization, so they won't even bother to contact us (also maybe, they are aware of us, but they are waiting to see how will we advance).
But if we find them, I don't see any benefits (at least not for a while - still, they can be light years away), only that we will know that there is someone out there.
I don't see any danger, because I believe that advanced civilization will not be a threat for us. They are most surely peacefull, calm and intelligent.
2.) Should humans transmit a beacon for others to find? We are transmitting signals daily. But they are to slow. Imagine how many years will pass before someone pick our beacon? We will have to invent some other way :) Or maybe the universe was created so big, so there can be no contacts between civilizations? :)))
Anyway, if we send a beacon...
I think it must consist of location in universe, our alphabet, mathematical system, and of cource, picture of us (and sound) sending a peacfull message.
3.) I run SETI because I believe in it. Becouse I love watching it searching for aliens :) I love little icon in taskbar ;)
And I want to be a small part of your organization.
Your project is great, and I have only good remarks.
