Personal background
Hi!
Im, Dave from Glendale, Arizona. I am a 47 year old Field Service Technician for a Truck parts supplier. In the past, I worked for Radio Shack, The U.S. Air Force, and various factories as a painter and a tool man. I also ran my own business in computer repair, upgrading and consulting; it failed when the tech bubble burst, and I worked for another company as Senior Technician before it, too went under.
I have run SETI@Home for many years off and on, and love the project. I'm one of those who wants to know that we are not alone out here! I miss the screen savers, though!
My wife, Susan, and I both run SETI@Home; I introduced her to the project, and we finally created a team! As we only have 1 computer, which I built, she is currently the only one running while I try to get my laptop replaced (stolen!).
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I run SETI@Home because I find it both interesting and important. I believe, as does my wife, that the search is important whether we find anything or not. I also believe that we must help out the team at UC Berkeley because of all the budget cuts for the project.
I view the project as one of the most exiting scientific projects around!
Bring back the screen savers!
