I do think extraterrestial Life exists, I think that the possible benefits of locating such intelligence offers a vast possibility of scientific, political and overall technological benefits.
I also believe that when these intelligences are located, in our current condition we would be unable to defend ourselves if these intelligences prove to be hostile, perhaps more dangerous would be the kind of extremists that instituted the september 11th attacks if they were turned to a friendly extraterrestrial race, it is possible that we have already been located by ET but they choose not to reveal themselves to the majority of the populous until such time as Humanity grows up.
