Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I have always been a firm believer in life outside our planet. When will we discover this life and how? Probably in the lab; microbes. As for intelligent life...they will contact us. Based on the signals we have been transmitting since the invention of radio and other communication mediums, one can could conclude that we have a tendency to be a bit violent at times. You'd be leary of visiting your neighbor if he/she was a gun-totting lunatic, wouldn't you?

No need for a beacon - our transmissions are enough. I run Seti at Home to help out and perhaps be included in that small group that may one day run across that ever elusive extraterrestial "call sign".
