I have been a computer tech in Muskogee, Oklahoma for the past 12 years. I enjoy working with Linux and reading (mostly science fiction).
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do believe that extraterrestrial life exists. It may not be human life as we know it. It may not even be carbon based but something so differant that we may not even know it when we find it.
I fill that we should transmit a beacon in as many ways as we can and not limit ourselfs to just radio or TV or any one or two bands. We have no way of knowing how or what a alien technology can receive. As to what information we should send, I don't think it matters that much. It is not that likely that a culture light years away will speak English or whatever. We just need to shine a "light" or give them a "voice" to follow though the dark.
SETI@home and Astropulse are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, and donations from SETI@home volunteers. AstroPulse is funded in part by the NSF through grant AST-0307956.
