Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. Extraterrestrial life almost certainly exists. Humans may aleady have had discoveries but we are so closed minded or have such huge egoes we tend to explain things away looking to downplay rather than support ET possibilities. The benifits and dangers are completely mind boggeling. Not enough room here or in my head for the endless scenarios. Guess that's why it's so exciting.
2. I think transmitting a beacon is probably a waste of time because it assumes to much. Who thinks "they" are anything at all like us? "Their" technology may be; probably is, much, much different than ours. "Their" life form is probably much different than ours and if we want to communicate with them light signals or brain waves may work just as well tho that's still much like radio beacons, what I'm trying to say is we need to think
3. I started using seti@home out of curiosity at first and maybe still but decided to run it cause it sort of made me feel part of it. I haven't been around long enough to have opinions on the project but my first impression is good dedication, tho I think enough time and effort has already gone into the project to prove anything that might be identifiable by this method it's time to stretch our imaginations, really get our heads together and start with our governments, they know more than they are sharing. Thanks...Xon...
