Personal background
I'm a Catholic priest, and as such, I have seen a lot of changes in this world of ours. I have for the past 2 yrs been a member of the Seti@Home program. I have always had a belief in other worlds, and am a avid fan of science fiction. Being 59 yrs old, I have seen so much change in what was science fiction as a boy. The first man in orbit, and then men on the moon. I've seen us land a robot on Mars, and so many things that just a few short years ago would have been thought immpossible.

Is there life out there ? Every fiber of my being tells me that there is. When God made this universe, he made so many others, that we are now just on the verge of exploring. I may not live to see the first contact, but I know it will come.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I became in SETI@home, after finding some information on the net about the work
that is ongoing looking for other life. I run SETI to help further that cause.
I personally think that the SETI project is a much needed project, and since it
is able to use the "common" person to help it achieve it's goal, I am happy to be
a part of it. Our goverment, seems to have given up on things like the SETI
program, and it is something that needs to be looked at.

I am positive that there is other forms of intelligent life out there. I am not
sure we will find them or they will find us. My feeling is that there is a very
distinct possibility that they are far more advanced than us. And as such they
are watching to see how we deal with our own world before opening any communications
with us. It is also possible that they are not as far as advanced as us. And are
now just entering an age of technological advancement.

Whether we find them or them us, depending on the degree of intelligence, and other
factors, it could be a great benefit to us in solving many problems we have. It
also could be the start of man's downfall. For what ever reason I feel that man
feels that he is above all other creatures, and wouldn't be able to accept that some
other form of life, could be smarter, or more advanced than himself. If less
advanced than ourselves, there is always the danger that we could corrupt the natural
course of events. Trying to make them over in our own idea of what the perfect world
would be like.
