Personal background |
I am a 20-something college graduate in microbiology. I do clinical research full-time and fix computers part-time. In my spare time, I entertain my two spoiled cats, do a lot of reading (from space science to the latest medical findings), Las Vegas trips, and enjoying the desert (this was taken at Madera Canyon). |
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
1. The BBS I belong to started a group (Quartz II BBS), so I thought I'd contribute. Plus, I read a lot about SETI@Home on the internet.
2. I enjoy runnning SETI@Home because it helps the project analyze the massive amounts of data that they themselves couldn't accomplish in a short while. I am pleased that the SETI@Home program has been as successful as it turned out to be. I am optimistic that the program will be successful in time, though it may take longer than anticipated.
3. I do believe that there is intelligent life out in the universe. I doubt we will discover them unless they initiate a contact (or send a reply depending on how you look at it). Whatever signals we are transmitting may be understood to be from a civilization not able to leave their own solar system, and not capable to assimiliate whatever technology they have. |
