Personal background
I'm a systems administrator in Australia. The photo was taken on a yacht on Sydney Harbour. If you ever visit Sydney then make sure you take a ferry trip and see the sights.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I am fascinated by scientific advances and space. I joined SETI@home because I am interested in the distributed use of computers, and because I was amused by the possibility that my computer might be the one to decode a signal from another being elsewhere in the vast universe.

I suspect it will be at least another 20 years before we do find something sufficiently different to be a valid sign of life. There is too much space and spectrum for existing capture and analysis devices. I believe that there are many more valid uses for scientific funding, particularly with the damage we are doing to our own environment, but I hope the SETI effort continues too.
