| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |

I have always had an interest in what (and) who we may encounter when we eventually travel to the stars. Although I am a Chemist by profession, astronomy has always been a keen interest of mine - and participating in Seti@home gives my an opportunity to "belong" to that community of scientists and engineers. Although the odds of "me" finding the first positive proof of ET's existance - I believe that I am at least speeding up the process so that someone else will.
The seti@home project is a valuable tool, outside of government, to utilize the interests of the general population towards a common goal. I would like to see similar efforts in other scientific endevours where the general population can participate and contribute. When that time comes - I am ready! |
