Personal background |
I like long walks on the beach, moonlight dinners and the skulls of dead animals. Only when they're really clean, though. Otherwise, it's a little gross.
I like ninjas and samurai. I dislike pirates. I also like to discuss religion when the minds are right.
I want to help find E.T. life, though I am skeptical that this is the right way to do it. Instead of bitching about it, I will do what I can here and possibly participate in other initiatives in the future of our search. |
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
I feel in my bones that E.T. life exists. I don't know if humans will ever discover it, because we may be the more advanced civilization in this case. If ever others are found in the universe, who's to say that we will still be using the Earth as our home, and thus we will be E.T. life ourselves.
Of course there are dangers in any exploration, but it's a challenge that must be accepted and met. The dangers come in the unknown. Unfortunately, being afraid of the unknown has too often led to suffering and bigotry.
I personally think that the search for transmissions may be a waste of time to those who don't have any interest in the matter, but what else are we supposed to do right now? If there is money to be spent on the SETI, then let those who can think most clearly about how to communicate with a distant transmitting people be the ones to decide where the money goes (as long as it's not to line their coffers, of course). |
