Personal background
Originally from Suffolk, England... Moved to Australia in 1993, now living in NSW

I Have returned to SETI@home after a 4 years absence... just never got around to reinstalling it...
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Three main reasons:

(1) I remember being woken in the night to watch Neil Armstrong walk on the Moon

(2) If the current (2009-date) US Administration continues to cut the NASA and research budgets, we'll just end up a backwater planet at the a**e-end of the galaxy... Who would have thought that in 201x scientific research like this would only occur because citizens have given of their own computational power, time and bandwidth to make it happen???

oh and (3) I grew up in Woodbridge, near Rendlesham Forest and the twin air-bases and remember the events of Dec 1980...

I am convinced that we are not the only sentient lifeforms in the Universe.
