Profile: Jack Garrett

Personal background
I am a 34year old musician from the Austin Texas area, or I was before fracturing my L-1 vertebra in an auto accident in ’96. I never really recovered from it and am now (I really hate the term) “Totally Permanently Disabled”. My goal is to be able to attend U.T. and study law (or the lack thereof).

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I don’t get out much and SETI has become a wonderful tool for exploration. I learn something new(or something I have forgotten) nearly every time I visit the SETI web site. I am the brother of physicist Robert Jefferson Garrett and over the years I have slowly started to comprehend some of the things he been babbling about. I spend a lot of time dreaming about the wonders of the universe these days, the sheer scale of it, and of course the life that must exist in some form outside our little blue oasis. I have wanted to participate in the SETI program for years, and when my family got together last year and bought a really fast duel processor system for my birthday,(I am on a very small fixed income and could never afford such a thing) I immediately began a quest for room in my budget for an I.S.P for the sole purpose of Joining SETI.
