Personal background
Hi Ho,
Joel Martin here. I am an engineering student at the University of Pittsburgh (Putting the capital K in Kuality). When I'm not doing homework or projects I'm either sleeping or working.
I work for the University's Helpdesk. Not because I want to either but we all have our crosses to bear. (BTW, would the idiot at HP tech support who is telling coustomers that Pitt supports Norton Antivirus for EVERYBODY ON THE PLANET please step forward so they can be summarily thrased with a combination of wet and dry noodles)
My K6-2 will be cranking out Seit work units as fast as it can untill I can get the money to upgrade it.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Does life off earth exist? I'm not to sure.

Should humans try to contact any?
Let's see: There have been more humans killed in the 20th century than any other period of recorded history. We have weapons capable of wiping all life off the face of the planet, which really doesn't matter as we are doing a bang up job of paving anything green in the name of the God of Money. We have people fighing to the death over a pice of desert and have added the words "Refugee Camps" and "Ethnic Cleansing" to our dictonary. We live in a world where we care more about what goes on in Hollywood than in the poor secion of our local town and we want to contact other "intellegent" life?

Why do I run Seti?
Because it has geek factor, the data it collects can be used a multiude of research purposes and it give my computer something to do other than waste power.

Damm, I missed my bus to class.
